Tropical Storm Adrian is the earliest in Eastern Pacific records since the dawn of the satellite era. While not a likely epic surf producer it does bode well for conditions being conducive for an active season.

Currently sitting south of the Mexico / Guatemala border the outlook for Adrian certainly isn't encouraging for surfers further north. While there's a chance of development to Hurricane status in the next 72 hours this outlook is far from certain. There are no strong indications that the storm will make it into the California swell window.

That said the early start shows conditions are already conducive to storm formation - which has to have positive bearings for an active season. The NOAA outlook for 2017 will be released when we officially start the season in the next few weeks.
